The CRC for Water Sensitive Cities’ Comprehensive Economic Evaluation Framework (IRP2) invites you to a training workshop focused on applying the INFFEWS Value Tool (WP2). The training workshop will be offered in Brisbane on 18th March 2020.

Developing business cases for investment in water sensitive systems and practices could be strengthened following the inclusion of intangible benefits that do not have a clear market price, for example environmental benefits. However, obtaining dollar estimates of these benefits is complex. The INFFEWS Value Tool has approximately 2500 non market and market values related to benefits of urban water and environmental management investments. All valuation studies included in this database have undergone a thorough review process to ensure the values derived are robust.

In this workshop you will develop a broad understanding of how to use the INFFEWS Value Tool and how to adjust available information (values) to a particular context.

The training workshop will run from 9am to 3pm (please arrive by 8.30am), and include:

  • Discussion on the importance of including non market values in Benefit Costs Analysis and business cases development
  • Demonstration on how to navigate the tool and obtain relevant values for the project you want to evaluate
  • Discussion on the various benefit transfer methods, and how to select suitable studies
  • Practical session on conducting benefit transfer using a water-related project as an example

The training is being offered to water sector professionals who are involved in economics, project evaluation, or business case development for a water sensitive or environmental management related project. Attendees should belong to a CRCWSC Participant organisation.

The training is free for CRCWSC Participant organisations, but limited. Attendees must fund their own travel arrangements.  Non-members may register for a nominal cost.

Attendees must bring their own laptop computer to the training workshop.

Communication with registered attendees will be sent a week in advance of the training. Should you have any questions about the workshop or registration process, please contact Lorena Ikic at Brisbane@crcwsc.org.au
