*********NEW VENUE **********
We have an amazing new venue that our September 18th show will be taking place at, we are so excited to be moving to My Lover Cindi, the newest and all inclusive space to hit the Adelaide scene, a cozy space with some very very sexy velvet booths (who doesn't want to run their fingers over a little bit of velvet?) if you ain't picking up what we are putting down a little research might put a smile on ya face.
MY LOVER CINDI - Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a queer utopian night space on Kaurna Yarta (in the Adelaide CBD). Bars and clubs play a significant role in the narrative of queer history. They functioned as the only safe meeting place to plan revolutions, create family, flirt and fuck. We argue that this should persevere. The more marginalised members of our queer family, trans and gender diverse people, disabled people and queers of colour in particular, continue to be excluded from mainstream venues, including those that cater to cis white gays.
Our mission then is to be the caretakers of the space that will become your home. We will prioritise accessibility (physical and otherwise) and active inclusion of those otherwise left out.
We aim to manage the conflict between running a business that has longevity under capitalism, and ethical business practices. This looks like: employment opportunities for those who have limitations, supporting other ethical businesses wherever possible, utilising the space in an economical way and welcoming feedback and input from our community.
We will attempt to disrupt the colonial cishet patriarchy. This means actively welcoming First Nations people and other people of colour through employment, performance and patronage. This venue will address a severe lack of accessible, inclusive meeting spaces for the Adelaide queer community.
Our mission is to fill the hole. We want a place to dance, a place to host community events, a spotlight for queer performers and a truly welcoming meeting place. This space will not simply tolerate, but celebrate the diversity within Queer Communities.
OUR STORY
2016 had VCP hitting the Adelaide Fringe scene with a BANG - Our world premiere of #nofilter having a sell-out season on opening night with a few weeks later being picked up by The Garage International, VCP performed 15 shows in the 2016 Festival d’Avignon in France, the largest contemporary arts festival in the world and since their return has performed another 4 season upon demand. It is quite clear that VCP has made its mark on Adelaide as our reputation continues to exceed itself with the caliber of productions and artist’s we continue to show.
