Event Details

This workshop runs across two days approximately two weeks apart ( see below). This ticket is for both days.

Delivered by Michael McLean of McLean Management Consultants (MMC), this workshop provides attendees to bring their recurring projects and non-conformities and apply a Problem-Solving Method to achieve operational, tactical & strategic improvements.

Over this two day workshop you will be working on your work-related problem where you will be coached through a Continual Improvement process and problem-solving methodology that uses the well-known Dr Deming’s Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycle.

PDSA is the core learning cycle for ISO Management System Standards Corrective Actions, Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why Analysis, 8D, Kaizen, Toyota A3 and PPS, Lean and Six Sigma DMAIC methodologies, tailored by Michael to the participants own approach and problem.

Day 1. 30th May 2023 - You will define the problem, its ranked causes develop a data collection plan, tools and techniques for the causes of your problem.

In between workshops. You will collect data to plan for ranked causes with project coaching.

Day 2. 15th June 2023 - You will work through common graphical analysis tools on the data collected for the causes, solutions, implementation, and test, to embed into your System.

Problem Solving Templates and Team Reference Sheets will be provided.

This is a two day commitment.


This workshop is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and New South Wales Government under their Disaster Recovery funding arrangements.


About Michael McLean

Michael McLean is the Managing Director of McLean Management Consultants established in 1988. He is a Juran Medallist and Shilkin Award winner; author of the MMC Problem Solving Pocket Guide (Australian Made registered); Problem Solving Guidebook and Continual Improvement Tools and Techniques; co-author of “Manufacturing Money”.

He sits on several Standards Australia Committees and is an ISO Australian Technical Expert covering ISO 9001 Brand Integrity, Quality Techniques and Financial Benefits of ISO 9001. Past ISO Convener for the Integrated Use of Management System Standards 2018 Handbook. He has had corporate roles in engineering and productivity for automotive parts manufacturing, textiles, aluminium products and telecommunications. His focus is on “Embedding strategic change” through and an IPA Trademark approach of “Keep Change Create”. An invited speaker about AUKUS for SMEs and APQC Houston USA in 2023. He will represent Standards Australia in July 2023 for the new ISO 10009 Quality Tools Guidance.

MMC work across a large range of Manufacturing sectors from steel fabrication, building products, food production and biomedical and leads the Defence ISO Basics and Defence ISO Advanced for the Hunternet, ADIN, Goal Group SME Defence Ready Seminars 2021-24.
