Maggie Gould (NZ/ US), Gavin Ahearn & Lauren White

⭐️ NZ-born vocalist Maggie Gould's music combines Jazz, Latin, Brazilian Jazz & Soul music, bringing international audiences a unique sound & performances.  Maggie has performed internationally with Bruce Foreman, Russell Malone, Nanny Assis, John di Martino, Kevin Field, Ron Samson, Leo Traversa, Tommy Campbell, Claude McKnight & Alex Foster.

She has sung at The Blue Note, Jazz Forum, BB King's Club on 42nd Street, Zinc NY & many festivals.  At her residency in London she sang with Dionne Warwick who said – "you tell a story girl, don’t change a thing

Currently based in New York, Maggie launched her 2023 debut album 'Todo Amor' at The Blue Note, taking her band to international festivals in London, Rome, Venice & NZ.

⭐️ Gavin Ahearn (Piano) is a worldwide recognised & accomplished pianist/ composer/ Jazz aficionado. He has toured & recorded in Australia, the US & Europe, & performed/ recorded with a variety of Australia's leading artists including Neilsen Gough, Bri Cowlishaw, Liam Burroughs, Danni Da Ros, Adrian Mears, Synergy Percussion & so many more. Gavin led his own US-based ensemble for 7 years feat. NY musicians Mike Dopazo & Christian Coleman, plus Atlanta bassist Chris Riggenbach. The quartet recorded Gavin's debut album in New York, 'Flight of the Arctic Tern', which received distribution in the US & Japan. Gavin has performed all over the world from Mo I Rana near the Arctic Circle in Norway, through Europe & the US to venues all through South East Asia -including opening the 2015 Hemnes Jazz Festival in Norway with a suite of original music called the Helgeland Suite with Briana Cowlishaw, with whom he also recorded an album in Norway which was released as the album Fjord in 2016. His compositions have also been used on TV & film. Gavin currently teaches at the Australian International Conservatorium as well as The Jazz Workshop in Sydney & has many current projects underway.

⭐️ 2024 Ken Weatherley Jazz Scholar Lauren White is a bassist & vocalist who spent her school life playing in orchestras, choirs, state music ensembles & the Schools Spectacular. At 18, she received the Jann Rutherford Award, & mentored by jazz bassist Zoe Hauptmann, her inspiration for a career in jazz. She was a finalist for the James Morrison ‘Generations in Jazz’ Vocal Scholarship in 2018 & graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2020 in Jazz Performance.  

The Ken Weatherley Jazz Scholarship was established following a generous bequest by passionate jazz lover & former 2MBS Fine Music Sydney presenter, Ken Weatherley. It supports young, outstanding jazz musicians to further their careers in jazz.
