Compassionate Transitions: Empowering Adolescents in Palliative Journeys.

The Masterclass is aimed at Medical & Nurse Practitioner's caring for young people and their families with palliative & end-of-life care needs. Participants should have completed a PPC introductory and PPC advanced course prior to attending this event.

Other Healthcare Professionals are welcome to register but should be mindful that the sessions will be aimed at decision-makers, prescribers & dispensers. Nurses at Clinical Nurse Consultant or Nurse Practitioner level are recommended.

Topics include:

Participants will gain insight into the unique development, emotional, and psychological needs of adolescents in palliative care. Participants will follow a case study that looks at legacy work, ethics, share decision-making, working in partnership, symptom management, and different types of transitions.

When: Friday, 9th May 2025. 8am - 1630pm

Where: Queensland Children’s Hospital Auditorium, Level 7, 501 Stanley St, South Brisbane

Cost: Free, numbers will be limited to 50 participants.

Please note, BYO morning tea and lunch. Refreshments may be purchased on-site.

Parking: Hancock Street carpark, Mater carparks, Southbank Parklands carparks – costs apply. Mater Hill bus station is directly opposite the hospital. If traveling by rail, the closest train station is Southbank. It is a 500m walk from the train station to the hospital.

This event is planned to be run only as an in-person event.
