Activities and chemistry level: Teams will undertake a series of chemistry-related problems to solve a possible murder. The chemistry involved is aligned with the school curriculum and also highly applied for students with an interest in biology, environmental science, biomedical/medical science and forensics, with opportunities for Years 11, 12 and advanced Year 10 students. There will also be opportunities for students to see extension chemistry applied at university. (After registering, teams will be provided with additional information prior to the event date.)

Entrants: Open to teams of three from Year 11 and 12 (advanced Year 10 students also welcome to register)

Materials required for lab entry: Please bring a lab coat, safety glasses and enclosed shoes for each student. For the meal afterwards, students should also have a filled water bottle (that is left outside the lab during the session).

Meet and greet: As part of the event we will learn from the expertise of Dr. Nick Lucas and Dr. LaTara Rust, forensic chemists with the AFP. We will also provide access to University of Canberra staff to answer any university-related questions students (or accompanying staff) may have.
