Join our Indigenous Tourism Officer for a tour that combines the cultural and scenic sites within the National Arboretum Canberra with a visit to the only Aboriginal owned Art Gallery in Canberra.
The tour starts with a guided walk of Forest 2. Learn about local native plants used for medicinal, culinary, and cultural uses and how Aboriginals relied on bush plants for food, trade, shelter, ceremony, and warmth and used landmarks and landscape for survival. Hear why caring for country is vital and plays a continual significant role in culture today. Your guide will bring the landscape to life and allow you to gain a deeper insight and respect for Aboriginal Australian culture.
Board the Ngala bus and visit our neighbour, the Burrunju Aboriginal Art Gallery which features artworks, artefacts and jewellery. Burrunju Aboriginal Corporation was established in 2006 to provide local Aboriginal people with an opportunity to realise their dream of self-determination by providing an avenue to sell art.
This immersive and enjoyable tour is a great way to learn about Aboriginal culture in a relaxed and beautiful natural setting. You will receive a Ngala Tours Dilly Bag which includes snacks infused with flavours inspired by the Australian bush.
