HENN + DOVETALE (DOUBLE BILL)

⭐️ Australian singer-songwriter HENN’s music combines storytelling flair with the candid nature of a conversation between close friends. Inspired by the timeless lyricism of Randy Newman & Joni Mitchell, Henn writes songs that are lived-in, yet never predictable. His lyrics inhabit a liminal space between fictional worlds & confessional details.

Taking the birth name of his grandfather, a refugee from Estonia during the Soviet occupation, Henn marks a return to his musical & personal roots. While stuck at home during the lockdowns, he picked up pen & paper & what began as a distraction quickly became an obsession. After this period of isolation ended, he began performing his songs for audiences around Australia. This journey took him halfway across the world to Amsterdam, where he has begun work on his debut album.

Henn’s first release is a live performance of two original songs followed by his interpretation of an old American songbook tune.

⭐️ DOVETALE is the solo project of Sydney musician Tom Hume, based on Gadigal land, creating music that is a reflection on the human experience. Dovetale draws from the folk music of his parents’ generation with the 2010s indie music of his teenhood to create a unique sound that is both nostalgic & contemporary. Dovetale’s songs explore love, loss, friendship & the age of capitalism-imperialism we inhabit, with a message of solidarity about our collective existence.
