Robyn Brown & The Indigo Collective
Jazz after Sunset
Get ready for a night of jazz, blues, swing and soul with Robyn Brown & The Indigo Collective along with special guests Sunshine Coast Grammar Big Band, Phil Hayter and Dr Rob McWilliams.
Robyn Brown is a highly-respected singer performing regularly at jazz clubs and festivals around the country. She is a passionate performer who, along with her band, loves to explore, create and improvise with exceptional interplay that brings fun into jazz. Taking tunes from the roots of jazz, you’ll hear songs of passion, longing, loss and joy, smooth standards, toe-tapping gospel and soulful blues all performed in their own jazz-infused style. Joined by Ross Nixon (piano), Peter Walters (bass), Lachlan Hawkins (drums), Phil Hayter (saxophone) and Rob McWilliams (trumpet), they’ll take you on a fun, soulful, musical journey as they put their own stamp on these soul-lifting songs.
“Infusing the blues with elegance and jazz with attitude, Robyn’s fine-grained tones imbue her music with relaxed phrasing, poise, confidence and a subtle sense of swing.” Roots Magazine
The night will also feature performances from the Sunshine Coast Grammar Big Band, Phil Hayter with his original jazz-funk compositions and Dr Rob McWilliams' straight-ahead jazz.
BYO supper and refreshments. Please supply own cutlery, plates, glasses, etc.
