Motown & Beyond is a Sydney-based Classic soul, funk & RnB band featuring an amazing talented line up, bringing to life all your favourite classic hits to dance the night away. They celebrate music from the Motown era (1959-the present), including greats such as Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd, Grover Washington, The Temptations, James Brown as well as later artists inspired by the Motown style such as Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Bryan Ferry, Human Nature, Gloria Gaynor, George Michael, Tina Turner and Amy Winehouse.
Originally Motown music was specifically written and mixed to sound good on car radios (in Detroit where the style was born) and is characterised by a thumping back beat which made everyone want to get up and dance. Added to this Motown Records sound is the characteristic sound of a strong rhythm section and brass.
The band go ‘beyond’ Motown to play soulful upbeat tunes from a myriad of famous recording artists, with some high-energy songs with dazzling vocals that will make you want to get up, tap your feet or sing along. Of course you may just want to sit back and just relax ,with dinner & drinks packages available your favourite songs from the ‘60’s, 70’s, 80's through to recent pop classics await you.
