‘Wet cough matters’:  Join the Menzies School of Health Research's (Menzies) Respiratory Health team for a half-day workshop in Darwin focused on why a chronic wet cough shouldn’t be dismissed.

This session brings together parent perspectives, clinical evidence, and practical strategies to improve early detection, management, and outcomes for children with chronic wet cough, therefore preventing future lung disease and poor general health.

This 3.5 hour educational workshop is aimed at any health professional who cares for children and young adults and parents of children with wet cough. 

We're delighted to have all of our presenters in-person in Darwin for this event! We strongly encougage you to attend in-person (if possible) to make the most of the discussions, and to meet and connect with our presenters. Afternoon tea will also be provided. 

What’s instore?

Starting at 1pm, you’ll hear from a range of presenters, including:

  • Professor Anne Chang AM (Menzies, QUT and QLD Childrens Hospital), speaking on Epidemiology on chronic wet cough and relation to future lung and general health
  • Professor Julie Marchant (QUT), on the Management of chronic wet cough and protracted bacterial bronchitis
  • Professor Andre Schultz (University of Western Australia) will share insights into How to improve the detection and management of chronic wet cough among First Nations People
  • Lesley Versteegh and Rebecca Challenger (Menzies Research Nurses) will present on Key resources for clinicians and parents
  • Professor Keith Grimwood (Griffith University) will share What you need to know to improve outcomes for your patients with bronchiectasis
  • Find out All you wanted to know about airway clearance for children with bronchiectasis with Associate Professor Pam Laird (The Kids Research Institute)
  • Hear Exciting updates in bronchiectasis from Professor Stephanie Yerkovich (Menzies and QUT)
  • And join us for a Panel discussion and case study, led by Professor Peter Morris (Menzies).
