KENNY BROWN (USA) & DOM TURNER
Kenny Brown, a true Mississippi hill country blues icon, played for over 30 years with the great RL Burnside, as well as with blues legends such as, Junior Kimbrough and Johnny Woods, and most recently toured and recorded with The Black Keys.
Kenny says:
“When I was about 18, I met RL Burnside at a little show and began a lifelong friendship and musical relationship. In the early 70’s RL and I performed regionally, and RL began to refer to me as his "adopted son,". In 1994 Cedric Burnside, RL’s grandson, joined our tours as Burnside's reputation surged in the 1990s and early 2000s. We continued to tour until RL’s death in 2005. Over the years I have recorded with R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, Asie Payton, CeDell Davis, Paul "Wine" Jones, Frank Frost, T-Model Ford, Dale Hawkins, Mojo Bufford, Jessie Mae Hemphill, The North Mississippi Allstars, as well as Cyndi Lauper and many others.”
Dom Turner, three-time Sydney Blues Society ‘Traditional Blues Artist of the Year’ (2022, 2024 and 2025),is guitarist, vocalist, and founding member of the legendary Australian blues group, Backsliders, as well as other acts including with The Rural Blues Project, The Turner Brown Band and with US blues legends Phil Wiggins, RL Boyce, and Sunpie Barnes. Dom has toured the Australian and international festival circuit since the 1980s, and has been invited onstage with various guitar legends, most recently in Sydney by Derek Trucks (The Tedeschi Trucks Band) at the State Theatre and The Allman Betts Family Band at Metro Theatre.
Kenny and Dom first met at Bluesfest in 1999, but it wasn’t until the late 2000’s in Mississippi when they began planning shows together.
Doors open 7.30pm, show starts approximately 8pm.
