In this Newcastle Music Festival Finale, Mitchell Berick, Principal Clarinet of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, returns home to Newcastle to play one of the most popular works of all time - Mozart's sublime Clarinet Concerto. The concert begins with an effervescent symphony by the French-Creole violinist and composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a contemporary of Mozart whose music and personality captivated Parisian audiences. The program closes with two American works - Barber's intensely moving Adagio for Strings, and Jessie Montgomery's brilliant Starburst.
