Close to Forever, the creative love child of Dale Caldwell (vocals) and Ben Fink (guitar, vocals), has evolved over time into a collective of some of Australia’s most acclaimed musicians.

Close to Forever love creating dramatic soundscapes of their original works and unique interpretations of other artists’ songs. The collective contains core members Dale Caldwell and Ben Fink, and any mix of the sublime talents of Sam Golding (Mara Big Band)- horns,

Phillippa Murphy-Haste (Microfiche, Sirens Big Band) clarinets/viola, Chris Abrahams (the Necks) - piano, Danny Heifetz (Mr Bungle)- drums and Peter Hollo (Tangents, Fourplay) - cello.

Their debut album Hearts and Desire was released in late 2022 and their sound has been described as a searing and haunting listening experience, a beautiful mix of rich vocal harmony with luscious arrangements.

The last year or so has found the band expanding into a more improvisational approach on stage.

Their musical style is not confined to a single genre featuring elements of art-pop, jazz, rock, indie and alt-folk.

For this performance Close to Forever will feature -

Dale Caldwell on vocals
Ben Fink guitars, vocals
Peter Hollo on cello
Sam Golding on horns
Danny Heifetz on drums

Joining them for the first time will be special guest Phillippa Murphy-Haste on clarinet and viola.

And once again the performance will include

specially curated visuals by Brendan Cook from Picturedrift interacting with the music as it happens.

Brendan, who is one of Australia’s best Motion Designers and Animation Directors, created Close to Forever’s first ever video for their single “Hearts and Desire” using Dale Caldwell’s beautiful artworks.

This very special band is an extravaganza of sound, colour, light and creativity.
