No matter where you end up in life, dealing with others is a constant. Everyone in the workplace must be able to communicate with others to an acceptable level, regardless of their position. It is important to learn how to interact with others, especially in the workplace, where negotiation with peers and friendly dealing with clients and superiors can be very useful.

It can be difficult to learn interpersonal skills because it takes years of interaction with people to notice subtle clues and not get lost in awkward situations. People with little experience with dealing with others can be problematic in the workplace. They can cause disruption to the workplace and tax workplace cohesion. This can put undue strains on their coworkers as well as themselves. It can also encourage distrust in their work environment and create a culture that is more taxing than they can solve.

Paramount Training and Development recognizes the importance of both people who can work in the workplace and have the skills and knowledge to allow them to communicate with others. We also understand the legitimate concerns of those who are conscious of their shortcomings and show a clear desire to fix them. We have created the Effective Communication Training Course to help both sides.

It is hard to interact with other. One must take into consideration their differences, similarities, their speech patterns, and their manner of carrying themselves. Once one has received or sent something to the other, it is necessary to construct an appropriate response. Failure to do so will result in the interaction being ended. It can build rapport between two people and, if it is successful, can help to forge strong connections that will last the test of time. Although no theory or lesson can guarantee such a success, Paramount Training and Development's Efficient Communication training course will help those who are willing and able to learn about social interaction and building relationships.

Training provided in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney as well as Adelaide, Parramatta and Geelong, Gold Coasts, Parramatta and Perth. Australia Wide Training

Effective Communication Training Outline

Re-examine the fundamentals of communication

What is communication? Why is it frequently used? What needs to be present within an utter to make it a form of communication? Why is context important? Along with these questions comes the demand for a short review of linguistics; the hows and whys of the language and all the other minute details that most people utilise everyday but rarely stop to think about. In Effective Communication Training we feel that it is vital that our learners rediscover their roots by re-examining the fundamentals of language and communication as this will serve as their backbone and framework for all their future endevours in this course going forward.

Identify, interact with other, and develop their own communication styles

What is assertive communication? What’s submissive communication? What is aggressive communication? Participants undertaking Effective Communication training are shown to correctly identify these from one-another as well as the many attitudes, mannerisms, and traits that these particular communication styles exhibit while they attempt to communicate with others.

The next step is how to properly respond to individuals using these differing styles. There are ways, methods, strategies already in place to appropriately converse and interact with these varying styles, and by the end of the course, learners are expected to display proficiency in how they interact with these differing styles and correctly and in a detailed fashion explain how they do so.

Lastly; either organically or with more rigid lessons given by our instructors, learners will be encouraged to develop their own communication styles and appropriately apply them to the correct and suitable instances for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

Identify and overcome different barriers of social interaction

Many barriers exist that can impede and halt any attempts to interact with others. They vary wildly and greatly in scope, severity, and even what these barriers are. They could be physical such as the medium used to interact with one another such as faulty internet connections, socio-cultural differences such as being from different countries thus having different customs, traditions, and varying forms of etiquette, to more conceptual differences such as conflicting philosophies and biases. Learners taking up the People Skills course are taught how to recognise these impediments in communication and are allowed to develop strategies and workarounds to these potential barriers by deriving from sturdy and reliable research materials from relevant fields.

Become sensitive to the demands of context

As with language as a whole, statements, utterances, and the like are all subjected to a certain context. Part of the environment, the person you’re speaking to, and the task at hand can all change the intended meaning. This adds an extra layer of tenuousness, as it ends up adding an additional later of material that one needs to process. A more concrete example would be how one communicates between a coworker and a superior, where one form of language is acceptable to one, and can lead to an employee’s immediate expulsion for the other.

This is vital, especially in the workplace, where context can completely change the meaning of a statement. Participants of Effective Communication Training will be well-informed and equipped to properly interpret statements with context in mind.

Employ strategies and methods to streamline communication

In most workplace environments certain linguistic phenomenon begin to emerge; shorthand phrases with specific meanings, jargon; words which usually mean something extremely specific and specially adapted to the context of the environment appear, and other strange abbreviations, sentence structures, and so on, that need to be examined or at least taught to fully understand. Those undertaking Effective Communication Training are taught to observe the formation of these workplace linguistic phenomenon in other workplaces, see how they work and can be used effectively, and then attempt to create or at least adapt their own workplace language; all the while observing the benefits, and pitfalls of workplace linguistics for newcomers and outsiders.
