Playwriting Australia is the national new play development company. We seek, develop and champion outstanding new Australian stories by unique playwrights that will inspire present and future generations.

We connect talent with opportunity, bringing playwrights together with other theatre artists and companies to create an expanding repertoire of new plays and productions. We are experts working to extend the art, ambition, quality, and diversity of playwrights and playwriting.

In a generation, Australian playwriting will reflect our society. We work with artists from all backgrounds and at all levels of their careers to develop the next generation of scripts and theatre-makers. We search for unheard voices and elevate cultural icons.
