Meeting with decision makers: Live and Online

Meeting with decision-makers explores how to prepare for, participate in

and follow-up meetings with politicians, advisors or public servants.

It is designed for people who work in not-for-profit or purpose-driven organisations and engage with decision-makers or support others to do so.

What will the workshop cover?

The workshop will cover five key areas:

  1. How to determine who to meet with - including identifying your goals and power mapping.
  2. How to get a meeting - including drafting meeting requests and follow up.
  3. How to prepare for a meeting - including developing briefs and undertaking background research.
  4. What to do in the meeting to maximise impact - including possible approaches to engagement and approaching difficult conversations.
  5. How to follow up and maintain records - including notes to keep and ways to manage data.

This workshop will be conducted online via Zoom as a single 2.5-hour session.

Participants will need audio access at a minimum.
