I - ASIST: FREE suicide prevention skills training
Indigenous Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training I-ASIST provides a culturally relevant framework for participants to learn how to use a unique 6 task model to provide a suicide first aid intervention, work with someone to develop a personalised safety plan to keep safe for now and connect with further help. This course has been developed by Indigenous people with Indigenous facilitators, to provide culturally appropriate suicide prevention training.
I-ASIST is for Indigenous workforces, people who work with Indigenous communities, as well as schools, community groups, and sports clubs. Virtually anyone age 16 or older, regardless of prior experience or training, can become an I-ASIST trained helper
During the two-day interactive workshop, participants learn through powerful audio-visual learning aids, group yarns, skills practice and development through trainer-facilitated workgroups.
Participants in I-ASIST:
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided
