'Championing Women in Care'

The Care Economy is the fastest growing economy worldwide. In a media release on 26 November 2025, Care Economy CRC stated: “Today, the care economy has an annual turnover of $327 billion and employs about 1.8 million people (over 15 per cent of the workforce) of which around 80 per cent are female. Challenges include chronic workforce shortages, low productivity, low pay and gender disparities, and poor technology uptake.”

Undeniably, women hold up the Care Economy and MUST be at the forefront of reform and the future of Care.. It is women who need to be championed, elevated and supported - particularly in a burnout-prone sector - where reform and cost cutting is the priority.

The 2026 International Women’s Day Luncheon – “Championing Women in Care” honours South Australian women who are leading, supporting and transforming our care sectors – including professionals from the disability, health, mental health, aged care, broader care and early childhood education sectors.

Hosted by Cassie Day, this uplifting luncheon is designed to honour the women who quietly serve and support patients, clients, families, organisations and communities, while creating space for real conversation about what it means to lead, work and care in complex systems.

Guests will enjoy a 2-course meal with a variety of refreshments, a high-profile keynote address and an intimate panel discussion featuring women with lived expertise, frontline insight and leadership expertise. Together, we’ll explore themes of courage, resilience, advocacy and sustainable impact — professionally and personally.

More than a luncheon, this is a cross-sector gathering where values of community, connection, authenticity and giving back are at the heart of every detail. Expect meaningful connections, new collaborations and practical inspiration you can take back to your workplace, business or community.
