Fresh from performances in Paris and Berlin with gypsy jazz greats, Nadya brings her signature interpretations of Edith Piaf and other French classics to life.
With the extraordinary Leonid Beshlei on accordion, audiences are transported from sunlit Parisian afternoons to dark corners with stark shadows and reall drama. His deeply expressive playing weaves effortlessly with Nadya’s powerful contralto—described by John Shand as “a contralto of power, force and conviction whose voice would light up a room if the power failed.”
Nadya’s passion for France, the language which she speaks fluently, and its music shines in every note, carrying her and the audience straight to the heart of Paris, with a theatrical delivery that would reach the hearts of people that understand and don’t understand French.
Joining them is Julian Van Leer on guitar, whose delicate, lyrical style adds a perfect touch of harmony and grace to this evocative performance.
