The Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) 2-day course teaches participants how to provide initial support to another adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
The course is facilitated by Tony Holt, a Principle Master Mental Heath First Aid Instructor, Resilience First Aid Instructor and Physical First Aid Instructor. Tony brings a weath of practical knowledge and understanding to the course.
Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem and the treatments and supports available.
Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, course participants learn how to approach someone they are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns. Participants also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to encourage the person to seek professional help or other supports.
The fee is $295.00 which includes all Catering, the MHFA manual, MHFA Lanyard and pen and notebook as well as the opportunity to be come a certified Mental Health First Aider.
Participants must attend the 2 full days to be certified. Participants are asked to arrive on time for a prompt 9:00am start.
This course is appropriate for adults 18 years and over, individulas, workplaces of any size, and volunteer and community based groups. Participants do not need any prior mental health qualifications or knowledge. Participants in this course are often a range of professionals, workplaces volunteer and comunity organisations.
Please note, in accordance with MHFA standards, we do require a minimum number of participants to run this course. In the rare instance that we do not meet minimum numbers, we will notify you as soon as we can to discuss rescheduling to another date or providing a refund.
