Paediatric End-Of-Life Communication Workshop

This free, single‑day workshop is presented by John Hunter Children’s Hospital Paediatric Palliative Care, the QuoCCA project and Palliative Care Australia, with accompanying online interactive modules. We encourage you to complete the modules before the workshop; however, completion is not required for attendance.

Suitable for all Health Professionals in hospital and community services that provide care for seriously ill children & their families.

Overall Learning Aim: By the end of this course, participants will be able to engage authentically and effectively with young people, families, and colleagues about end-of-life care in paediatrics.

Key Aims from the modules:

• Build a platform of knowledge and ability in the needs and connecting with babies, children, and young people.
• Promote thoughtful conversation and effective partnering by exploring the perspectives of families, and the tools to practice this.
• Strengthen self-compassion and how to look after one-self and each other.
• Exhort the understanding, readiness and appreciation capabilities needed for our diverse population.
• Identify the practices of best teamwork and referral in the care environment.

Learning outcomes of the workshop:

This workshop provides a practical rehearsal space and connected experience to bring the learning to life. This will be provided using mixed interaction opportunities-

• Exploring the impact of language in healthcare
• Connecting with parents about their experiences and messages
• Practicing skills in Simulation space
• Exercising with Clear Kind Curious questions

When: Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026

Cost: Free, numbers will be limited to 30 participants.
