Details

Enjoy an afternoon of culture, history and connection at the Library, as we proudly screen "Remathau: People of the Ocean". This award-winning documentary follows the journey of Nicole Yamase, a young marine biologist from Micronesia who ventures to the deepest part of the ocean and begins an even deeper dive of self-discovery as she reconnects with her people's resilience and oceanic roots.

The screening will begin with a short documentary feature ‘Tales of the Diaspora’, which tells the story of Johnny, a Cook Islander/Samoan born and raised in the United Kingdom. Despite the distance from the Pacific Islands, she and her community actively create opportunities to learn and share cultural traditions. The short film aims to spark a conversation on how we can help bridge the gap between the diaspora and cultural knowledge holders.

We look forward to welcoming you to Library for this special event.
