Speaker: Patricia Weerakoon

Patricia Weerakoon is a medical doctor from Sri Lanka, academic, sexologist, speaker, and writer. She retired in 2012 from after an academic career in the University of Sydney. The last eight years of which she served as the director of an internationally renowned graduate program in sexual health at the University of Sydney. Since then, she has chosen to pursue her passion for writing and public speaking.

Description: Children of today are the most digitally connected, socially informed and sexualised generation that ever walked this earth. They are also an anxious and lonely generation. Patricia Weerakoon will look at recent research on the adolescent brain and social media and consider how you as parents understand and counter common myths of identity, sexuality and gender. For the person overseeing ministry to children in a local church, Patricia’s insights will equip you to help your families navigate this sexualised cyberworld.
