We invite you to the closing of March Dance 2022.
Shining the spotlight on independent dance in Sydney
Due to the extreme weather condition, the launch of March Dance was cancelled. Come and join us as we now celebrate the month that was, with a closing party.
We will celebrate the support of the City of Sydney and the Keir Foundation, and the 166 artists who took part in the festival. As well as the 6 companies, 12 organisations and the 17 venues across Sydney that hosted our artists. The program included 19 residencies, 7 performances, 5 workshops, 50 dance classes, and 4 talks.
You will be be greeted with dance film screenings by Wendy Yu and Lux Eterna and performances by Josh Freedman, Sydney Choreographic Ensemble and dance artist Anton.
We are thrilled to have the support of Young Henrys!
Young Henrys is a group of passionate brewers, beer lovers, distillers, musicians and artists, united for the love of good beer. Established in 2012 in the back streets of Newtown and in the hearts of lovers of music and art culture all over; supporting grassroots community through to major festivals and cultural institutions.
Come and share a cider and Newtowner with us!

ABOUT MARCH DANCE
March Dance is initiated by the Independent Dance Alliance (IDA), a collaboration between Critical Path, DirtyFeet, and ReadyMade Works. The 2022 festival will be led by Critical Path and DirtyFeet, who have joined forces with other companies and organisations to support artists’ participation in this month-long dance festival, celebrating the culture of independent dance in Sydney.
The objective of March Dance is to help support all stages of career development; with this in mind; we have expanded on our criteria and guidelines. We want to help the sector gain knowledge and skills in grant writing, budgets, and self-promotion. The information we gather is also used to help support the festival growth each year, assist us in gaining funding and sponsorship, and create an even stronger festival in 2023.
March Dance is supported by the City of Sydney and the Keir Foundation.
