F.S. Kelly (1881-1916) produced a body of compositions in his short lifetime that outshines any of his Australian contemporaries, excepting the extraordinary Percy Grainger. For his National Library of Australia 2021 Creative Arts Fellowship, David Wickham has examined all extant Kelly manuscripts in the Library’s collection, with a view to preparing them for publication in five volumes. This performance, also featuring soprano Helen Brown and violinist Christopher Latham, will showcase the songs, solo piano works and the first Violin Sonata of F.S. Kelly for the first time since the composer's death.

David Wickham is a pianist specialising in accompaniment, with considerable recital and opera experience. His field of research is Australian art song, a body of work begun while a lecturer at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He has recorded 9 CDs of Australian songs and chamber music and edited 32 volumes of art songs for the publisher Wirripang. He has broadcast numerous live and studio recitals on ABC Classic FM, and played in the Perth International Festival, at Sydney Opera House, and in shows ranging from recitals to cabarets in Fringe festivals, as well as having been a member of the teaching staff at the Australian Opera Studio and WAAPA for many years.
