The workplace is filled with innovative ideas and similarly-intricate research methods, much like academic areas. This is because it gives the business the edge and encourages them to innovate and offer the best customer service. Each approach requires the care and diligence that it deserves. When executed well, it can be extremely rewarding for both the employee and the company. This can result in complex approaches being created, eliminating unnecessary items, or improving existing ones. It's not only about the approaches, but also how amenities and other facilities are improved that will ultimately lead to greater productivity. This is why we created this training course to help participants understand this aspect of the workplace. We will be focusing on topics like time management, critical thinking skills and de Bono's 6 Thinking Hats. Participants will be able to improve their company's scientific aspects much quicker than others by the end of the training course.

Workplace research is essential, there is no doubt. This alone leads to countless innovations and fuels the company's success. It is important to discuss its benefits as well as the methods that facilitate productive research, such as questioning and survey techniques. These things will also be discussed in the most engaging way possible: through interactive activities. Participants will learn critical thinking skills and not have to sweat. We also offer the ability to create customised training sessions that address specific needs with pinpoint accuracy. We are happy to provide more information about our services.

There are many training options available in Australia, including Perth, Brisbane and Sydney as well as Melbourne, Canberra, Darwin and Adelaide.

Workplace Research Training Outline

Time Management

The key to any research is to always set up proper limits and estimate the amount of time and resources required to satisfy such goals. The greatest manifestation of the latter is time management. However, it isn’t just a matter of planning, for things can very easily go wrong when one thinks only about plans; this is especially true for an even more dynamic area that is the workplace. In fact, some of these things might already be around you and affecting your performance in various, subtle ways such as a messy workspace. This can very easily rob employees of 5 extra minutes. There are also various other things that can certainly affect study time. As such, it is imperative for participants to learn proper time management in order to create the best possible work while spending the least possible time.

Critical Thinking Skills

Just as in academics, workplace research requires much critical thinking to be able to properly spot logical inconsistencies and even the repercussions of their methods. When starting from scratch, it is very important to exercise coherence in judgment, and this is but one way of achieving so. Failure to do these can not only affect the quality of the research, but even the company itself; a misleading survey can result in customers denying the company much-needed profit, and a flawed hypothesis basically means wasting crucial time and resources on a fool’s errand. It is therefore very important to exercise critical thinking skills to know precisely how to start research and keep the momentum once it’s begun.

De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats

In a dynamic area of diversity, it is rather important to ask: what brings people together? How do these people think? How should we think? Now, there are various, more relative answers to these questions, but the uniqueness of Edward de Bono’s contribution to these philosophical questions is the fact that he created a revolutionary method for getting people to think together in a uniform way. This method of switching “hats” so to speak has identified the 6 ways in which the brain thinks and even the processes that it often takes to get to the most powerful of ideas. This method’s relevance to research is therefore clear: it maps out your thoughts and allows you to innovate in ways that would otherwise be impossible. Our training course will therefore help participants get this particular edge by telling them about each of these “thinking hats” and knowing when to use the right “hat.”

Survey Techniques

Surveying is an important aspect of the research process as it allows participants to create general conclusions from a sizeable group. With it, a research process can result to more kinds of food products and even better company toilets. The possibilities of this particular research process is therefore undeniable and endless. Further still, there are various ways to conduct a productive survey, from determining the right number of people, gathering statistical information, and getting the right group of people together. Thus, our training course will take considerable time informing participants about these techniques to help them get the necessary edge in the research process.

Questioning Techniques

Questioning is often key to get the information needed from participants and even the methods you’ll be conducting. In fact, it almost always begins with the latter: what shall we study? What do we aim to improve? What do we want to know about? Indeed, it is often easier to ask oneself about these things without much effort, but the same might not be true for a wider audience: often, one has to consider the tone of the question and how it is worded. Does it offend cultures? Is it too invasive? Is it loaded and full of bias? These questions are but some of the many that this training course will endeavour to answer. By the end of this training course, participants will learn about key techniques that will allow them to gain as much information as possible for productive research.
