The Emerald Ruby at Lounge Sessions

The Emerald Ruby is a unique folk entity that evolved from a fashion project into a multidisciplinary adventure through the creative mind of Jennifer Hankin. Her music is folk-inspired and uses long form looping to incorporate elements of jazz and classical music, and together with her enchanting monochromatic outfits, evokes a sense of being lured into the forest by a musical faerie. Jennifer launched her musical journey at Newcastle University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music with Honors in flute, piccolo and composition. A founding member of experimental folk band Vanishing Shapes, Jennifer is also a flautist and singer in The Button Collective, Lachlan x Morris, Bread and Seaweed, Othrship and Twin Willows. As The Emerald Ruby, she has self-recorded nine singles since 2017, released a music video for her song I Must Go, and went on a solo tour of Australia in July 2018. In 2019, The Emerald Ruby performed at Melbourne Ukulele Festival and Bulga Beats Festival in addition to performing gigs across NSW with her many musical endeavours.
