Workshops With Terrariums By Bella

I grew up on a water lily farm and surrounded by lush semi tropical gardens. Helping my family around the garden was my favourite part of my day. Working with natural living materials was so invigorating and meditative. My business was born out of my hobby and slight obsession to plants!

As a former architecture student, my approach is both scientific and creative. I love blending the functional with the creative to make a piece that is durable and ethereal. For me, all of my inspiration comes from places I've been and travelled. For example, when I participated in the Brisbane Spring summer finders keepers 2015, I had just completed a 100km trek and all of my terrariums and products took inspiration from the hidden sub tropical valleys and rocks mountains I found and photographed.

I always thought I was a little weird when i spent hours photographing mosses or plants in the rainforest but now I channel my energy into capturing those scenes for other people to enjoy. I use traditional techniques from japan called bonkei, and it is the process of honouring the landscape by using natural materials and techniques to capture scenes in miniature form.
