Please note that this training workshop is for Knox-based groups/clubs, non-profit organisations and individuals who live or work in Knox.

Facilitator: David Cherry, Clinicial & Forensic Psychologist

Details: When a fellow volunteer or member of your group is experiencing emotional distress, knowing how to respond can make a real difference. This practical workshop will give you the confidence to provide appropriate support while looking after your own wellbeing. You'll learn practical, easy-to-use strategies for supporting people who are distressed, confused, angry, or experiencing a crisis. The session also explores how to respond safely and compassionately while understanding the limits of your role.

  • Supporting people experiencing emotional distress.
  • Communicating with empathy and confidence.
  • Understanding the difference between emotional support and professional counselling.
