We all have a unique voice that can identify us in a crowd, spoken or written. What is it about your voice that makes you stand out? How does this come through in your writing? How do you want to use your writing voice? Fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction? Explore these ideas and learn how to stand out in this workshop with local poets Frank Prem and Dr. Rox Bodsworth.
Roxanne achieved her PhD at Victoria University in 2021 with feminist poetry inspired by Irish mythology. She has twice reached the Victorian finals for the Australian Poetry Slam, was runner-up in the prestigious University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize (2024). Using the pen-names of ‘Therese’ and ‘RTB’, she has been short-listed in many competitions and published in several journals. Roxanne has two verse novels published, as well as a The Book of Hours, a collection found in the stories of survivors from the Turkiye/Syria earthquake. She thinks poetry keeps her sane. (It doesn't!)
Frank Prem has been a storytelling poet for more than forty years and has spent his working life in various parts of the public psychiatry system in Victoria (Australia). He has been published in magazines, e-zines and anthologies, in Australia and in a number of other countries, and has both performed and recorded his work as 'spoken word'. He has published over 35 poetry and picture-book collections. Frank is an Adjunct Research Associate of the School of Education, Charles Sturt University, Australia. He and his wife live in the beautiful township of Beechworth in the North East of Victoria. www.frankprem.com
