The Possibility Partnership and Mid-Coast for Kids invite you to join us for a workshop to explore how we can activate and enable a more seamless approach to relational practices and human-centred services in the Mid Coast with visiting UK thought-leader Mark Smith.

Bringing learnings and expertise from his work in the UK, including Changing Futures Northumbria - a multi-million pound, cross-sector partnership with government focussed on reforming health and well-being systems for those most in need, Mark Smith will lead a dynamic workshop that:

  • ·Explores progress, challenges and opportunities to activate and enable relational ways of working, drawing on real-world examples from human services settings.
  • ·Creates new understandings of how building meaningful connections and trusting, culturally responsive relationships are key to delivering better outcomes for and with people in Taree across the 0-24 years spectrum.
  • Offers opportunities for new collaborations between a community of people interested in exploring relational practices in Taree.
  • Uncovers pathways forward to unlock more relational ways of working, through engaging at multiple levels of the system.

Whether you’re a community leader, policymaker, practitioner, or advocate in human services, this workshop is designed to uncover valuable insights and ways forward for how relational care practices can improve efficacy as well as efficiency and ultimately create healthier, more resilient communities in the Mid Coast and across Australia.

Mark Smith is currently Visiting Professor of Public Service Innovation at Manchester Metropolitan University. In his previous role as Director of Public Service Reform at Gateshead Council in the UK, he developed and implemented a systemic approach to relational working that became known by practitioners as 'The Liberated Method'. Today, he provides support and advice to various organisations exploring relational public service in the UK and overseas.
