The National Library of Australia celebrates the launch of Vintage Crochet from NLA Publishing with a week long program of creative connections. Vintage Crochet builds on the wild success of Vintage Knits (2022) and features vintage patterns from Australian publications—such as Australian Women’s Weekly, The Woman’s Mirror and even The Colonist—from as far back as 1888.
Step into the timeless world of crochet and join us for a Friends-exclusive instructional workshop and talk by Melody Lord, editor of Vintage Crochet. Facilitators from the Crochet Guild of Australia will guide the session and participants can partake in one or more activities: basic (granny squares), intermediate (pattern from the book), or advanced (your own project from home). Light afternoon tea will be served from 12.30pm.
Friends receive an extra special discount when purchasing the book, and will take home a 'Take and Make' pack which contains everything you need to create your own project. Whether you're a novice or an expert, there's something for everyone to learn and enjoy in this relaxed social setting.
About Melody Lord

She is the author of Knitting Basics (Murdoch Books, 2012) and the editor of both Vintage Knits and Vintage Crochet for the National Library of Australia. Her most recent crochet project (apart from the ones for Vintage Crochet) was a forest of small Christmas trees.
