Come dip your toes in the Torres Strait.
This dance workshop will give you a taste of the Torres Strait style mixed in with contemporary dance.
Yolanda Lowatta is a Geidei woman from Yam Island in the Torres Strait and is also of Papua New Guinean and Fijian heritage. Yolanda is a contemporary dancer who fuses different styles together. In 2016 Yolanda was awarded a Helpmann award for Best Female Dancer in a dance or physical theatre while dancing with Bangarra Dance Theatre and has also danced for Ochre Contemporary Dance Company.
Her arts credits include MABO directed by Rachel Perkins, Stolen directed by Leah Purcell and Up The Ladder directed by Wesley Enoch and choreographed by Penelope Mullen, Yt dingo and Jannawi Dance Clan.
Please wear clothing that you can move around in comfortably that covers your knees and or bring knee pads.
