Join us on Sunday 23rd February 2025, for a practical hands-on chemotherapy workshop at Miners Lantern at Tamborine Mountain Glades, limited to 15 vets and nurses. This workshop will empower you with the skills and insights required to safely administer oral and injectable chemotherapy.

You’ll receive comprehensive guidance on:

• Preparation, handling, storage, transport, disposal, and dispensing of oral and injectable chemotherapy.

Workshop Highlights:

• Morning Session: Begin with engaging and insightful chemotherapy presentations.
• Afternoon Session: Engage in hands-on practice with dog dummy leg venipuncture models and a live dog demonstration.

Some of the Topics Covered:

• The good, the bad, the ugly, and the truth about chemotherapy, addressing common questions, concerns, and challenges in veterinary practice.
• Chemotherapy safety for pets, owners, and staff, and how to discuss these aspects with clients and staff.
• Administering oral and injectable chemotherapy, including advanced techniques like intracavitary chemotherapy.
• Supplier insights and costs, so you know exactly what to order and where to get it.

Post-Workshop Support: You’ll also receive post-workshop support via Zoom from Dr. Catherine Chan to help you implement your new skills confidently and effectively

Travel & Shipping: For those traveling from interstate or overseas and attending the Day 2 chemotherapy workshop, please ensure you request a check-in for a 23 kg luggage allowance to take your large take-home chemotherapy packs with you. Welcome to The Pet Oncologist 2-Day Oncology Workshop & Retreat at Tamborine Mountain Glades! This retreat is the perfect opportunity to focus on professional growth, relax in a tranquil setting, and connect with your peers.

The workshop will be held at Tamborine Mountain Glades, offering a secluded and peaceful environment to focus on learning and enjoy a relaxing break from the busy veterinary industry!

ON-THE-DAY REGISTRATION:

Registration for attendees will be available between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (Day 1) at The Sanctuary.

On Sunday (Day 2), please proceed to Miners Lantern for registration between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.

The workshop will commence promptly at 8:30 a.m. on both days.

Please remember to wear your name tag throughout the event, as it grants you access to the workshop, meals, happy hour drinks at the bar, and other provisions.

BARISTA COFFEE & TEA:

Barista coffee and tea will be available at the kiosk with drink tickets provided for your convenience.

DRESS CODE:

The dress code is smart casual.

For Day 2, which includes a hands-on chemotherapy practical workshop, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes.

CONTINUING EDUCATION POINTS:

You will receive a CPD certificate with 19.5 CPD points for both days: 6.5 CPD points for Day 1 and 13 CPD points for Day 2.

FEEDBACK & GIVEAWAY PRIZES:

At the end of the workshop, you will be invited to complete a feedback survey. Those who participate will be entered into a prize draw for a standard consultation report, valued at $300. One winner will be drawn at the conclusion of each day, so there’s a chance to win on both Day 1 and Day 2.

DAY 2 | CHEMOTHERAPY WORKSHOP:

Attendees of the Day 2 chemotherapy workshop will receive a large take-home chemotherapy pack, which includes all the essential equipment, manuals, and drug information sheets for safe chemotherapy administration.

Each chemotherapy workshop attendee will receive a complimentary scrub top, thanks to Knight Benedikt, to wear during the workshop. Chemotherapy consumables and supplies will also be provided by Cenvet, GVP, BD, Stirling Fildes, and KRUUSE.

Please provide us with your scrub top and chemotherapy glove sizes for each ticket purchased.

PRE-CONFERENCE YOGA SESSIONS:

Join us for relaxing Hatha Yoga held on Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. sharp for one hour. These sessions cater to all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced.

We are offering half-price discounted tickets at $12 to attendees, but spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please bring your own yoga mat, towels, and water bottles.

GROUP WALK:

The Pre-Conference Cedar Creek Falls Group Walk is scheduled for Day 1.

Please meet at Thunderbird Park between 6:00 and 6:15 a.m. The group walk will start promptly at 6:15 a.m. and takes approximately a 45-minute round trip.

If you are running late, feel free to enjoy a leisurely walk on your own or catch up to the group. The walk is self-guided, allowing you to take your time and enjoy one of the most stunning waterfalls in the region.

Please bring insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen, and your own water bottles. Wear enclosed shoes. If there is wet weather, bring a raincoat or umbrella.

CATERING:
Catering and drinks will be provided on both days.

The venue will cater for various dietary needs, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc. Please mention your dietary requirements when booking your ticket.

A complimentary all-you-can-eat pizza buffet dinner, live music, and happy hour drinks will be available to Day 1 attendees in a private outdoor social setting at The Edge (see J5 on the venue map)

Canapés and drinks will be provided at the conclusion of Day 2.

BREAKFAST OPTIONS:

Start your day with a buffet breakfast at the Rainforest Restaurant, available from 7:30 to 10:00 am daily.

Please note that complimentary buffet breakfast is available on Day 1, Saturday 22nd February 2025 between 7:30 and 8:20 am, courtesy of our breakfast sponsor, John Keys from Green Finance Group. You still need to book your tickets.

Please proceed to Rainforest Restaurant at 7:30 am, collect your meals, and head over the Miner Lanter, just a few doors down, to enjoy the sponsored breakfast as a group.

Alternatively, enjoy a menu selection at The Terrace Kiosk, also opening at 7:30 a.m.

FAMILIES & PARTNERS:

There are plenty of activities to enjoy at the retreat, with Thunderbird Park, Tree-Top Challenge, horse riding, and mini golf on-site. You are welcome to bring your family. While babysitting services are not currently available, we are exploring options to offer babysitting for an additional fee. More details will be provided as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if babysitting is not available, please feel free to bring your children and babies to the event. We kindly ask that you supervise them and ensure they remain quiet when the speakers are talking.

Catering for partners and children is available for an additional fee, including the Day 1 evening pizza buffet and happy hour event. They are also welcome to participate in the complimentary group bush walk and enjoy yoga at a half-price fee.

Transport

Tamborine Mountain Glades is approximately 1 hour by car from both Gold Coast and Brisbane Airports. The simplest and most cost-effective option for transport is car hire. We recommend avoiding taxis, as arranging one for the return trip can be challenging and expensive.

REFUND POLICY:

Refunds are available up to 14 business days before the event. If the workshop is canceled by The Pet Oncologist, a full refund will be provided to all ticket holders.

For cancellations made more than 14 business days before the event (i.e. by Friday, 7th February 2025, 10 am AEST), a full refund will be issued, minus a $100 administration fee.

For cancellations made within 14 business days of the event (i.e. from Friday, 7th February 2025, 10 am AEST), a 100% cancellation fee will apply. However, ticket holders who cancel within this period can still receive all workshop resources, including chemotherapy spill kits, extravasation kits, and chemotherapy equipment. The Pet Oncologist will contact you to arrange for pick-up or delivery.
