Celebrate the joy of harmony singing with Yackandandah choir SongShed, led by Chris McGorlick & Leanne Murphy. SongShed is an auditioned choir with a focus on creative choral arrangements of pop, folk, chant, standards and original songs in up to 6-part harmony... plus plenty of audience participation! For this performance they'll be joined by the participants of the Songwords workshop.
Over his dozen years living in the North East, Chris McGorlick has been lending his voice and his trumpet to numerous choirs, big bands, orchestras and small ensembles. In 2017 he founded a street band, The High Street Shufflers, and has been co-leading the Folk Festival Community Choir since 2023. Chris co-leads the a cappella group Slipstream, co-leads SongShed with Leanne, and has been the president of Arts Yackandandah since 2020.
Leanne Murphy is a singer-songwriter, musician, artist, teacher and community music leader living in Beechworth, Victoria. She has been teaching music for over 30 years in classrooms and communities, and at festivals and events around Victoria and NSW, including most recently co-leading the 100+ voices of the 2024/5 Yackandandah Folk Festival Community Choir alongside fellow SongShed leader Chris McGorlick.
