Garma 2019 Youth Forum Highlights

There is incredible movement among our youth today. They are proud, capable and understanding. They carry in them a desire to develop means to improve on the current state of Indigenous disadvantage.

The Youth Forum, a mini Garma in itself, opens with the Yolngu Rapirri Room smoking ceremony. Then follows four days of camping, activities and workshops for around 50 Indigenous and non-Indigenous students from across the nation. These workshops include mobile journalism, digital media, science, song, music, dance, physical activities and cultural workshops in a full program.

What eventuates is an energetic and exciting gathering of local elders, youth, community organisations, leading musicians and writers who all come together to share experiences and learn from one another. This collaborating culminates with a presentation to the Plenary session at the Key Forum.
