Details
Curtin University will host the competition at their Bentley campus on Tuesday 16th June 2026. Teachers are invited to register teams from their schools.
For all teams competing in the WA competition, the analysis is as follows:
"The analysis involves preparation of a standard solution of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) (provided), standardisation of a NaOH solution, and titration of a second sample of KHP (the ‘Unknown’). Judging is on the values reported for the amount of KHP in the unknown sample."
Please note:
- Teams comprise of three students.
- Each student performs their own individual titration/analysis; individual results are then combined for team scoring.
- Schools must select the appropriate ticket type when registering (use of university equipment or their own equipment).
- Schools using their own equipment are responsible for its transport, handling, and care.
- Due to high demand, schools may initially register up to 2 teams only at this venue. Schools wishing to register additional teams may request to be placed on a waitlist by contacting the organiser (vicky.barnett@curtin.edu.au). If spaces remain at the registration close date, these will be offered to schools on the waitlist.
- Schools are responsible for the safe transport and supervision of their students in line with their excursion procedures. Students should not move around campus unaccompanied.
- No catering will be provided for students or teachers.
- As schools may also compete at other venues or in their own schools, results will not be announced on the day.
- Further information will be provided to registered schools by the event organiser or a delegate from the host campus.
Registration for the Curtin Bentley campus event will close on Friday 29th May 2026.
