PETE CAMPBELL & THE LAZY DOG PLUS SPECIAL GUESTS FRANK SULTANA &  KIM GIRDLESTONE

A prolific live artist & Winner of Tamworth's 2024 Fretfest Song Contest, PETE CAMPBELL has been refining his songwriting craft on stage & in the studio, as he heads towards the early 2026 release of the album Barely Fed, recorded with his live band, The Lazy Dog.

Pete's sound is a blend of acoustic & electric folk styles – from Appalachia & London to the streets of Sydney – combined with blues, country & Americana. As heard across the new album, his influences range from iconic artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt & John Prine to contemporary songwriters such as Paul Kelly, Kevin Bennett, Bernard Fanning, Neil Finn & Laura Marling.

THE LAZY DOG is comprised of JED WESLEY-SMITH (Pat Powell, Bek Jensen, The Felas), TIM BRADLEY (Mambo Brown Trio, On The Stoop, Amber Kenny) & since the album was recorded, they've also been joined by ROSS WARAKER.  PLUS tonight they will be joined by Very Special Guests FRANK SULTANA on Guitar & KIM GIRDLESTONE on BVs!

The first taste of Pete's debut album was the single 'The Parts I've Seen' which premiered on Sunburnt Country Music and Stuart Coupe's Dirt Music on 2SER. The song entered the Amrap National Community Radio Airplay Chart at #20, and the Country/ Blues/ Roots Chart at #10.

The new single, 'The Ballad of Dark & Light', which premiered on In The Pines on FBi Radio, has the emotive & resonant cello of Peter Hollo at its core, with drums & percussion providing its heartbeat. The swirling, atmospheric folk rock sound is full of baroque sonic detail, providing an elegant framework for Pete's questioning lyrics.
