Fashion Show celebrating the Diversity & Power of Women
International Womens Day 2020 - March 8th - Collingwood Town Hall
From an early age women are told to be better, be slimmer, be fitter, be prettier, be younger. Media tells us to look a certain way. Patriarchy tells us to behave a certain way. The fashion industry can often typecast, objectify and sexualise us. Rarely do we see women that represent the way we look, and show the power we have.
It's time to take back our power.
This is an event that gives women a platform to shine. We will showcase all who identify as women. Who have overcome. Who have felt powerless and unworthy. We want to lift them high. We want to celebrate them.
We warmly invite you all to join us in this celebration. This event will be held on the ancestral lands of the Wurundjeri people. We recognise their elders, particularly women in indigenous communities who be strong role models and inspiration for us.
This event is a women led initiative. All decision makers, committee and artists are people who identify as women. We will not only be showcasing the diversity of women in fashion and story but there will also be entertainment that is inclusive and appropriate for all age groups and sexes.
When purchasing a ticket, you will be supporting two organisations who support women overcome. The first is Butterfly Foundation. They support women and girls who have been impacted by eating disorders and body dysphoria. The second is Foothills Care who support women who are survivors of Family Violence and abuse.
Ticket cost includes entry and entertainment. Drinks will be available for purchase on the day.
Audio Description and AUSLAN services will be provided if needed, please indicate this at the time of your ticket purchase.
Please LIKE us on Facebook where we will post ongoing updates. Thank you for your support of this event and being a part of our celebration. We look forward to welcoming you.
