SERAFINA: Brazilian beats for your heart and feet – Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro and Beyond.

Anna Salleh first fell in love with bossa nova as a child, and deepened her understanding of Brazilian music by packing up her guitar and heading to Rio de Janeiro. She has performed internationally and is known for her collaborations with some of Australia’s best world/jazz musicians e.g. in the Afro Latin Moods Quartet (with guitarist Guy Strazz) and the five-piece Gorgeous Songs from Brazil & Beyond, with which she produced two albums.

Here Anna (voice/guitar) joins forces with Gino Pengue (guitar), Loretta Palmeiro (clarinet, saxophone, flute) and Jess Ciampa (percussion) in a new quartet called SERAFINA, which pays homage to bossa nova and samba classics from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Baden Powell, as well as intricate choro and other styles, including original compositions, drawing on Brazilian and other Latin genres.

“If this isn’t the sound of Summer I don’t know what is” – Sydney Morning Herald
