Oliver Downes
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Oliver Downes is thrilled to take his trio north this winter, for an intimate evening of song at The Rhythm Hut.
Packing ‘soaring melodies and sharp wit in equal measure’ (Tone Deaf), his debut album ‘Ultraviolet’ (2016) took a leaf from artists such as Ben Caplan, Kate Bush and Rufus Wainwright, to offer a sweet blend of dreamy ballads and exhilaratingly kinetic tunes.
Oliver will be joined at The Rhythm Hut by Joshua Kreusler (electric guitar) and Jack Towers (drums), lending his instantly familiar chamber pop tunes a unique jazz inflection to chart a musical passage through the darkness into the light.
‘[Downes’] compositions and arrangements create nebulous, ethereal soundscapes, deftly woven by the tensile orchestration… Give your mind permission to wander' (The Music).

Niq Reefman
Why the “q” in Niq?…well, there wasn’t enough room in the world for the “c” and the “k”, so they battled it out to the death. c was small but fast, and severed k’s arms, which fell and arched in a death-squirm, creating a q. True story.
From a little town North of Sydney, Niq Reefman is turning heads across the globe. Fans describe him as “Tim Minchin flying a trumpet through a thunderstorm” and his music as “One-man-cat-empire-band”.
His self-released album “A selection of musical tales” is heatedly anticipated and contains elements of storytelling, jazz, folk and electronic music.
