Where are we going & what are we doing?

In January 2016, Gabby Prior, Keeley Linsley and Jess Eldredge are travelling to Cambodia for 4 weeks to assist in the Reach Out Volunteers Program.

The first two weeks will be spent in the coastal community of Sihanoukville helping the villagers preserve the coral reefs. The reefs, which are vital to the villagers, have been badly damaged by pollution and fishing. Our assistance to construct reef pods will help regenerate the marine environment for fish breeding. We will also be helping to build water-catchments so villages have access to fresh water and renovate community building such as the medical centre and playgrounds.

Following our time in Sihanoukville we then travel to a small village outside of Siem Reap, building houses for the poorest families and classrooms for the local community school. We also travel to an elephant sanctuary in Angkor Wat. There we help rehabilitate elephants and monkeys that have been rescued from logging companies and circuses, replant food supplies and improve infrastructure.

We are so excited about out amazing trip and we cannot wait to help out in Cambodia!

Who are Reach Out Volunteers?

Reach out Volunteers allows volunteers to undertake hands on work delivering valuable infrastructure in the areas of education, sanitation and water supply for the benefit of these communities.

Participation in their programs delivers a range of benefits to all participants. The villagers benefit from the new and refurbished infrastructure, the learning opportunities and the friendship and interactions with the volunteers. The volunteers take away a special sense of fulfilment in having made a contribution and a real difference to the lives of others.

In addition Reach Out volunteers often make lifelong friendships while involved in experiences that are invaluable in clarifying and assisting in future career goals.

What are you donating to?

All the money donated goes towards those in desperate need in Cambodia. We are paying our own way overseas but we need your help. The money helps fund the building supplies needed for rebuilding homes and community buildings, equipment to construct reef pods that help conserve the coral reefs and regenerate the marine environment, and food for some of the poorest families and resources needed for feeding and sheltering rescued elephants and monkeys.

Every bit helps and by coming to our events you are supporting those in need in Cambodia. We thank you for you kind contribution!
