Global Youth Futures

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are four passionate film makers who are concerned about the impact that the multi-media educational experience has upon the global society. The purpose of project ‘Nomadic Hands’ is, first and foremost, to aid people and non-profit organisations in greatest need both domestically and globally and, secondly, to encourage Australian students to experience the rewards of humanitarian, animalistic, and environmental efforts firsthand.

From May 2008 to February 2009, we will go to ten countries each in Latin America to create a documentary about volunteering in over twenty organisations that improve animal welfare, human rights and environmental conservation, thus providing quality publicity for the majority world in need. Funding for the trip is provided, primarily, by fundraising activities carried out by the ‘Nomadic Hands’ Project Team, and the generous donations and sponsorship of considerate businesses and individuals. Nearly all of the volunteer programs participating in the ‘Nomadic Hands’ documentary have generously provided us with accommodation, which allows us to place our limited funding into other areas such as airfare, ground transfers, visa, vaccination and food costs and technical expenditure including film equipment.

During the nine month mission, we will get involved in each of one of the organisations daily activities, whether that be teaching English to a class of orphans, preparing food for injured monkeys, pumas and lamas, or maintaining medicinal plants in an Amazonian tribal region. We will be focused on providing an accurate portrayal of the efforts made by the volunteers both on the job, outside working hours, and even at home. Local myth tellers and musicians will also be involved in the documentary to help maintain important cultural perspectives.

We are determined to focus our attention on providing awareness to people in first world nations, about existing opportunities that exist within volunteer organisations throughout many neglected countries. Upon our return to Australia , we will be giving motivational speeches to High School students about living their dreams whilst helping struggling regions of the globe. The proceeds from ‘Nomadic Hands’ will go directly back into the participating volunteer programs, and also towards future projects of a similar nature.

Our objectives

By creating an inspirational documentary series and feature film, we aim to encourage people to become actively involved in small volunteer programs throughout Latin America, and to help these programs become economically stable enough to take on an influx of volunteers.

Publicity for the volunteer programs may be made possible via television, film festival screenings, and speeches given to school students throughout Australia . Proceeds from the project 'Nomadic Hands' goes directly back into the volunteer programs participating in the documentary, and into future projects of a similar nature.

Volunteers are needed to help support and protect abused children, animals, and to help revive the environment. Because we live in a free land, many people get too caught up in their own lives to care. But when people do want to help, sometimes they feel they can't do it alone, or they find that it is way too expensive to volunteer overseas.

Some volunteer programs cost a fortune to participate in, but many that we are filming are free to volunteer at. Our shared research provides people with little or no money a great option to become involved in volunteering.

By showing thousands of school students throughout Australia snippets of the unique and interesting documentary, and by giving them motivational speeches about living positive dreams, trends will hopefully form to improve the state of the world. We aim to change the perspective of many young minds, especially those in big cities such as Sydney , from a negative and materialistic attitude in life to an active mindset, helping create positive world change.

Many young people throughout the world will benefit greatly by watching our documentary, as they will become further informed about what the world is really like. It also gives children hope and encouragement for the future by showing them that they can easily do a lot to help make a difference. Hopefully, this will also help to lower the tragic suicide rates that Sydney is currently facing, as people will be more inclined to feel better themselves through helping others.

We will visit the Shiwiar tribe in the Ecuadorian Amazon, and considering that racism has been a major slice of negativity throughout Australia , we aim to show that Australians can make great friendships with people from all areas of the globe. Whilst in Latin America , we aim to maintain understanding and respect for all cultures, and project creative messages throughout the world about the necessity of good relations between all life on Earth.
