Breastfeeding: 101 will give you basic theoretical and practical knowledge to support and empower you on your breastfeeding journey.
Breastfeeding is a huge and complex issue, both in society as well as people’s personal lives. It is also a skill that requires preparation, patience, and practice. Each mother and baby dyad have their own journey with breastfeeding, and it can be both joy-full and extremely challenging (usually a bit of both). This evening provides the opportunity for pregnant people and their support person to learn the basics of breastfeeding so they can feel prepared and informed about what to expect and draw on this knowledge when their little one arrives.
The evening will cover:
- What to expect of your body and your baby in those first few hours and days. This includes the ‘golden hour’ after birth, the different stages of lactation and when your milk might arrive, what to expect when it does, how often baby may feed and how they let you know when they want to, supply and demand, and some troubleshooting tips.
- Techniques and tips for attachment and expressing
- The importance of support, both from partners as well as other resources that are available for you to reach out to if needed.
You will likely leave feeling a lot more informed and prepared to breastfeed! You will have learned so much about what to expect, and therefore how to support yourselves and your baby in those first few days and weeks.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Any pregnant person! It is suitable for any stage of pregnancy, although it may feel more relevant as you near baby's arrival, somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd trimester. You are encouraged to bring your partner or a support person to help take in the information and support you after your baby arrives!
Refunds up to 14 days before the event, Please give 2 days notice for refunds.
