
Karen Yogini
Yoga brings me home to the present moment. I am a passionate Yogini and explorer of creative movement of all kinds.
I have been sharing yoga with Canberra students for around five years. I offer a gentle yoga alternative including yin and restorative yoga, gentle flow and functional movement, integrating meditation and mindfulness into every class. In the last few years I have also been offering deep relaxation by candlelight. I am passionate about sharing simple and creative movement and breathing techniques that feel good. In my classes I focus on creating a space for students to breathe deeply, relax and let go. To help them make new shapes with their body, that reveal new things about who they are. I support students to try new things outside their comfort zone. I hope they experience blissful moments of freedom from worry, doubt and distraction. This is what yoga has given me and why I want to share it with others.
My own yoga practice and teaching style is always evolving and influenced by other movement systems such as dance, Stretch Therapy and Qigong. I come from an alignment-focused background with many years of Iyengar yoga study and training in Purna yoga at Byron Yoga Centre. I have trained in Yin and mindfulness with Sarah Powers, and explored my playful and creative side with partner yoga, thai yoga massage and the expressive vinyasa style of Shiva Rea. I have trained in therapeutic and remedial yoga with Yoga For Pain Care Australia and Maria Kirsten in Byron Bay.
