The View From Madeleine's Couch

The View From Madeleine's Couch is one of Australia's finest OzBrazilian music ensembles.
For 14 years, the group has explored and interpreted bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, forro & samba-reggae, as well as composing music deeply influenced by the sounds of Brazil. They've released two e.p's and two albums, Tranquilo (2005) and Casa da Boa Vida (2009).

Their music is heard across Australia on community stations, as well as national ABC stations & programs including Classic FM, Triple J and The Daily Planet (feature album of the week in 2009), and they've performed at some of the country's best music festivals, including the Woodford Folk Festival (6 times), The Bellingen Global Carnival, The Brisbane Festival, Manly Jazz Festival and headlined the Queensland Multicultural Festival.

Anje & Kym, founding members of the band, will join with some extraordinary musicians in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi to form a truly cross-cultural version of Madcouch. Some of the artists they'll be working with include the internationally acclaimed drummer Marcio Bahia, guitarist Dino Rangel and one of the great sons of the Minas Gerais sound, guitarist and bassist, Beto Lopes.

This tour is completely self-funded, and the proceeds of the concert on the 4th November will assist in covering some of their touring costs, including the hire of sound and recording equipment, and on-ground travel.

The band has also co-produced, with Low Pressure Sound System, Queensland's original Brazilian cultural festival, SAIDEIRA, which features bands, dj's, dancers and traditional Brazilian food. We'll be presenting the 6th (and biggest yet), instalment of SAIDEIRA in the first half of 2013.

Thanks for taking the time to check us out. We hope you'll consider coming to one of our shows (or particularly the fund-raiser on the 4th November!)
