Mithril Security

Mithril Security is a specialist company delivering training, information and skills to those required to comply with government security requirements.

Mithril Security delivers training to assist security professionals and their organisations to meet Australian Government security standards.

The training is primarily delivered through online courses, both self-paced and facilitated (Virtual Instructor Led Training – VILT). Bespoke courses can be developed for entities specific security training needs. Face-to-face and on-site training options are available.

I advise organisations on protecting their people, information and assets. My main focus is physical security for information, but I also advise on technical surveillance countermeasures, security risk management, policies and procedures, security awareness and training, security culture, and non-cyber information security. Areas that I would like to develop my knowledge and skills in are: cyber security; and end user acceptance of risk commensurate protection measures. In my spare time I listen to heavy metal music, go to concerts, walk our dog and play video games.

From 2007 to 2022 I was a protective security advisor in the Australian Government’s T4 Protective Security directorate.

I have developed and delivered many courses, presentations and workshops, including the Security Practitioners Course - Security Zones for government security practitioners, SCEC approved security zone consultants course for security consultants and Introduction to Counter Terrorism Protective Security forpolice protective security advisors.

From 2012 to 2015, I coordinated a complete rewrite of the Australian Government Technical Notes. These documents provide detailed best practice methods to government agencies for constructing Security Zones and meeting overarching government security policy.

I have a Bachelor of Science (Security – Honours), a Diploma of Government Security, a Diploma of Training Design and Development and a Certificate IV in Security Risk Management.

I have been the Assistant Regional Vice President for Digital and Technology, ASIS International – Region 15B (Australia) 2019-2023, and a committee member of the ACT Chapter of ASIS International 2015-2021
