Gentle Yoga - A Journey Through the Chakras
A gentle Hatha yoga class that smoothly transitions from physical movements to more subtle practices. Each week this term, we will concentrate on a different chakra. The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit and means “wheel” or “cycle.” There are seven main chakras in the body, each connected to specific body systems, emotional aspects, the endocrine system, and deeper self-awareness.
We will practice yoga postures and movements to activate or awaken each chakra, complemented by relevant breathing practices. Starting from the base chakra and moving to the crown, the focus is on embodied awareness and the breath. In Hatha Yoga, each asana (posture) is designed to tune specific chakras and glands, balancing the delicate hormonal system and creating harmony and wellness through the glandular system. This is why yoga makes us feel recharged and vital, offering therapeutic benefits for everyone, regardless of age or ability.
Take time for yourself. Slow down. Nourish your nervous system. Recharge. Become present. Breathe. Let go. Surrender. And feel good!
**About the Facilitator: Kimberley Roberts**
Kimberley Roberts is a nurturing hatha yoga teacher and mentor in yoga as a way of life. She has been teaching yoga for over two decades and practicing her entire adult life. She is passionate about making yoga accessible to all.
